AIUI — algorithms as a service

Context

Companies and developers frequently need narrow specialised algorithms — detecting a chat user’s gender, analysing context, controlling IoT device behaviour — but building and maintaining such algorithms in-house is uneconomical for most teams.

Problem

An algorithm marketplace with API access: a developer subscribes to the algorithm they need and plugs it into their system without understanding the internal implementation, while the algorithm owner monetises it without exposing the source code.

Architecture

AIUI is a cloud service where algorithms run on Carbonfay’s infrastructure and are exposed via REST API on a subscription model. An algorithm can be written in any server-side language; the subscriber receives only an API endpoint and documentation. Bespoke algorithm development for a specific task is also available, with subsequent distribution on a lease model with SLA.

REST API for integration into any information system; supports chatbots, IoT devices (smart home, industrial sensors), CRMs and other systems.

Results

Developers extend their systems’ capabilities without the cost of building specialised algorithms; algorithm owners gain a durable monetisation channel with no source-code exposure risk.
